Light in the Midst of Darkness and Hope in the Midst of Hell.-Rachel Mary Guy

I would encourage you to purchase the book “Hostage” written by Eli Sharabi. You can purchase it on Amazon. Eli Sharabi is a husband, father, brother, and friend. Eli was married to his wife, Lianne, for over 20 years. He was a father to Noiya, aged 16, and Yahel, aged 13. He lived a simple life in Kibbutz Be’eri with his family. On October 7th, 2023, his life forever changed. Terrorists entered his home, kidnapped Eli, and he would 491 days later find out the terrorists had murdered his family in their home. Eli found out a few days before he was released that his brother had been kidnapped and had been murdered in captivity. Eli survived despite starvation and being held in a tunnel for hundreds and hundreds of days. He was at first held with a man who had also been kidnapped by Hamas who was from Thailand. Eli was then moved to the tunnels in a brave moment where he chose life because he had promised his daughters he would return and so he entered what he called “the perfect grave.” Eli was held in shackles, starved, and beaten. Eli was held with Alon Ohel, Elia Cohen, and Or Levy. Eli was briefly held with Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Almog Sarusi, and Ori Danino. Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Almog Sarusi, and Ori Danino were told they were being released soon, but they were actually murdered in the tunnels.

It is essential to purchase his book because we must make ourselves aware of the horrors that not only happened on October 7, 2023, but also the suffering that the people continued to suffer after October 7th such as the countless people who were kidnapped. Every day for them was October 7, 2023. The last group of living hostages who were released were rescued on October 13, 2025, and these were the 20 remaining living. Twenty men survived 2 years and 6 days living in Hell, and time stood still for them. They are strong men, but their lives will never be the same. We must also never forget this day in history and be a voice for our Jewish brothers and sisters.
